Lompoc is located in the Santa Ynez Valley near Santa Barbara where the unique climate of cool nights and hot days help with the acid/sugar balance and the firmness of the fruit. Chris Cadwell has been growing heirlooms since 1988, when people didn’t know how delicious a purple or yellow tomato could be. Heirlooms are unique because you can’t find them all year long. The true season of a California heirloom starts in July and can last through November if we are lucky, depending on the weather.
